{"id":1068,"date":"2014-04-23T11:51:35","date_gmt":"2014-04-23T18:51:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/?p=1068"},"modified":"2014-04-24T12:05:49","modified_gmt":"2014-04-24T19:05:49","slug":"xmarks-server-503-error","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/?p=1068","title":{"rendered":"Xmarks Server 503 Error"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Like many, I use Xmarks plugins to manage my bookmarks across multiple web browsers.<\/p>\n<p>Recently the Xmarks install on Chrome was breaking.\u00a0\u00a0 I sync anything and got a 503 error.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/2c71c52a369b96089b6467112d6f1a96.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/2c71c52a369b96089b6467112d6f1a96.png\" width=\"406\" height=\"359\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After spending some time looking into it and finding no answer on the Xmarks site or anywhere else, I decided to reinstall the plugin, which resulted in a successful fix.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here are the steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Backup your Chrome bookmarks:\u00a0 ctrl-shift-O (or use the tool menu) to open the Bookmark Manager &#8211;Then Organize&#8211;&gt;Export Bookmarks to HTML file. If you don&#8217;t backup you could make a mistake during the Xmarks sync and lose everything.<\/li>\n<li>Uninstall the Chrome Xmarks Extensions from Chromes Customize Menu&#8211;&gt;Settings&#8211;&gt;Extensions.<\/li>\n<li>Reinstall the Xmarks Extension.<\/li>\n<li>Sync up XMarks.\u00a0 If you use profiles, you can cancel out of the initial sync wizard, and then go into the Options in Chrome and assign the profile.<\/li>\n<li>During the sync wizard I chose this setting which kept it from destroying my bookmarks on my other browsers and in Chrome:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/c723a8c2e23aa5700e1e7467b179b32e.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/c723a8c2e23aa5700e1e7467b179b32e.png\" width=\"413\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like many, I use Xmarks plugins to manage my bookmarks across multiple web browsers.
