{"id":1394,"date":"2014-12-04T15:03:39","date_gmt":"2014-12-04T22:03:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/?p=1394"},"modified":"2014-12-04T15:04:34","modified_gmt":"2014-12-04T22:04:34","slug":"configuring-intellij-14-on-osx-10-9-to-run-with-java-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/?p=1394","title":{"rendered":"Configuring IntelliJ 14 On OSX 10.9 To Run With Java 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just did an install of IntelliJ 14 on my development Mac running OSX 10.9 (Mavericks).<\/p>\n<p>When I started the IDE it erred &#8220;you need to install Java SE 6.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Screen-Shot-2014-12-04-at-3.57.05-PM.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1395\" src=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Screen-Shot-2014-12-04-at-3.57.05-PM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-12-04 at 3.57.05 PM\" width=\"483\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Screen-Shot-2014-12-04-at-3.57.05-PM.png 483w, http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Screen-Shot-2014-12-04-at-3.57.05-PM-300x116.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That was hard to believe. \u00a0I had 7 installed. \u00a0IntelliJ is reporting the version it needs to run itself, even though the applications you are developing wouldn&#8217;t have to be 6. \u00a0Personally I thought this nuts as most places are sunsetting Java 6.<\/p>\n<p>The solution is go to Applications-&gt;IntelliJ IDEA 14.app-&gt;show package contents. \u00a0Edit Info.plist and change &#8220;1.6&#8221; to &#8220;1.7&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Screen-Shot-2014-12-04-at-4.01.45-PM.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1396\" src=\"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Screen-Shot-2014-12-04-at-4.01.45-PM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-12-04 at 4.01.45 PM\" width=\"209\" height=\"118\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now it runs on 7.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just did an install of IntelliJ 14 on my development Mac running OSX 10.9 (Mavericks).
