{"id":215,"date":"2010-12-29T11:41:18","date_gmt":"2010-12-29T18:41:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/journeyman.ivystreetinc.com\/?p=215"},"modified":"2010-12-30T13:23:27","modified_gmt":"2010-12-30T20:23:27","slug":"zim-wiki-installed-on-snow-leopard-osx-10-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/10kdev.net\/?p=215","title":{"rendered":"Zim Wiki Installed on Snow Leopard OSX 10.6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On December 30, 2010 I was able to install a working Zim wiki instance on OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) on and Intel Mac.\u00a0 Here are the condensed steps.\u00a0 Total time to get up and running was just over 2 hours for me on a fresh OSX install.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Install Macports for Snow Leopard per their instructions.\u00a0 Make SURE you meet the requirements of having X11 and XCode installed already!<\/li>\n<li>On the Zim site it says you must us the python version 2.5 files, do not you need version 2.6.\u00a0 Substitute &#8220;26&#8221; for &#8220;25&#8221; in their list which means you will need to install these packages via macports, in the following order:\n<ol>\n<li>sudo port install python26<\/li>\n<li>sudo port install py26-gtk<\/li>\n<li>sudo port install py26-simplejson<\/li>\n<li>sudo port install py26-xdg<\/li>\n<li>sudo port install zim<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Open up X11, and execute &#8220;zim&#8221; in a shell and it will start.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Just in case:<\/p>\n<p>Python Version 2.5 would not work on my machine for a number of reasons and I was forced to back out its install.\u00a0 The backout might have left a residue, so\u00a0 when I got to the &#8220;install zim&#8221; step I was stopped twice due to unregistered packages that already seemed to be there.\u00a0 I executed these steps in order (per each stoppage) from information form the log files to solve this problem:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ol>\n<li>sudo port -f activate p5-module-build<\/li>\n<li>sudo port -f activate zim<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>You may not have to do this at all if you are starting from scratch.\u00a0 Good luck!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On December 30, 2010 I was able to install a working Zim wiki instance on OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) on and Intel Mac.\u00a0 Here are the condensed steps.\u00a0 Total time to get up and running was just over 2 hours for me on a fresh OSX install.
